Cannot Install cadence IC618 on rhel 9

My institution have been using IC618 on rhel 7. Recently we decided to upgrade to rhel 9.

I am getting this error,

2023/05/24 13:48:33 WARNING This OS does not appear to be a Cadence supported Linux configuration.
2023/05/24 13:48:33 For more info, please run CheckSysConf in <cdsRoot/tools.lnx86/bin/checkSysConf <productId>
WARNING: not possible to detect OS, missing lsb_release command!

I understand that rhel no onger packages lsb_release.

Does this mean IC618 cannot be run on anything post rhel 7?

Is there a work around?

Good day! It appears that you are having trouble installing Cadence IC618 on RHEL 9. According to the error notice, RHEL 9 is not officially supported by the current release of IC618 and cannot be detected since the "lsb_release" command is not present.

Even while it's possible that the most recent version of IC618 doesn't expressly support RHEL 9, that doesn't imply it can't be used with anything more advanced than RHEL 7. RHEL 9 does not support the "lsb_release" command, therefore you can run into compatibility problems.

You can attempt the next methods to get around this:

On your RHEL 9 system, install the "redhat-lsb-core" package. The "lsb_release" command that IC618 needs is provided by this package. Using the RHEL 9 package management, such as "dnf" or "yum," you may install it. For instance:

    sudo dnf install redhat-lsb-core

Run the IC618 installation once again after installing the "redhat-lsb-core" package. Hopefully now that the "lsb_release" command is available, IC618 will be able to correctly identify the operating system.
As the present version of IC618 may have additional requirements or constraints that are not explicitly addressed, keep in mind that this solution may or may not be able to resolve all compatibility concerns. It is advised to contact Cadence support in such circumstances for more guidance.

I wish you success with your installation and good operation of IC618 on RHEL 9!
