Cannot Install cadence IC618 on rhel 9

My institution have been using IC618 on rhel 7. Recently we decided to upgrade to rhel 9.

I am getting this error,

2023/05/24 13:48:33 WARNING This OS does not appear to be a Cadence supported Linux configuration.
2023/05/24 13:48:33 For more info, please run CheckSysConf in <cdsRoot/tools.lnx86/bin/checkSysConf <productId>
WARNING: not possible to detect OS, missing lsb_release command!

I understand that rhel no onger packages lsb_release.

Does this mean IC618 cannot be run on anything post rhel 7?

Is there a work around?

Officially, IC6.1.8 is not supported beyond RHEL 7. That's because it is not routinely tested on (say) RHEL 8. There have been some fixes in ISR24 onwards (IC6.1.8-64b.500.24) so that it should run OK on RHEL 8 (I'm not sure about RHEL 9 - may be OK too). The next release (Virtuoso Studio) due at the end of June will support RHEL 7,8,9 officially.

Which IC sub-version are you using?

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Thank you for your reply.

    My institution uses IC6.1.8-64b.500.18
I am guessing this version is incompatible. Should I contact the support team regarding getting the version you specified? Or do you recommend staying in our current version?

    Regards

    Aswin

    Aswin,

Your institution should be able to update to a more recent hotfix version than ISR18 (that you're using) - ISR24 is the minimum version which doesn't require you to mess around a bit with shared libraries (from my recollection). You can't yet move to Virtuoso Studio as it hasn't been released.
