Is it possible to change environment variables without relaunching Cadence?

I am changing environment variables for VIVA, e.g., font size, title font size, etc, through .cdsinit_personal file.
But I need to relaunch Cadence to see the effect.

Running source .cdsinit_personal from home and working directory show that I do not permission to do that.

    Dear delgsy,

In general, my experience is yes. If you type the command in the CIW window, the CIW will respond with an acknowledgement indicating the success (t) or failure (error message perhaps) of setting the environmental variable to your desired value. I use this quite often when changing the default behavior of Explorer to prevent it from overwriiting the same database for each Explorer run:

    envSetVal("maestro.explorer" "onHistoryNameCollision" 'cyclic "IncrementAsNew")

I am not sure I fully understand your comment, do you mean you typed "source .cdsinit_personal"?

If you want to re-load your .cdsinit, you can issue the load() command in the CIW:

    load("<path_to_your_csdinit_file>").

There are some issues associated with that as Andrew noted in an older Forum post:

I cannot speak for all ViVA environmental variables, but I know some can be changed in the CIW without exiting virtuoso.
