PVS window closes whenever trying to browse for a file

Hello,

We are working with IC618.500.29 and have PVS installed and loads fine from Layout Suite.

However, whenever hitting 'browse for file' button, PVS window closes with no error in the CIW. This happens regardless of the file we try to browse for, or the PVS tool invoked.

This doesn't happen with either Quantus or Calibre tools.

Looking at pvsUI_ipvs.log, we get the following error:

'(pvsgui:3417506): Gtk-WARNING **: 15:17:57.522: Could not load a pixbuf from icon theme.
This may indicate that pixbuf loaders or the mime database could not be found.
**
Gtk:ERROR:gtkiconhelper.c:494:ensure_surface_for_gicon: assertion failed (error == NULL): Failed to load /usr/share/icons/Adwaita/16x16/status/image-missing.png: Fatal error reading PNG image file: bad parameters to zlib (gdk-pixbuf-error-quark, 0)'

I suspect it's either a permission issue, or a path setup issue, but all the recommendations online from linux forums didn't help so far.

Any assistance will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matan

    Matan,

This is described in article (pvsgui:17415): Gtk-WARNING **: 15:46:11.923: Could not load a pixbuf from icon theme. (it suggests a couple of solutions, including to a newer PVS version - you didn't mention which PVS version is in use).

Also, the missing file could probably be resolved by installing the adwaita-icon-theme rpm on your Linux machine.

    Thank you, Andrew,

We're using PVS 21.12, sorry for that.

Your post has solved my issue.

In my case, our system admin defined our VNC viewers to run 'mint' desktop for whatever reason so I also had to:

    1. Install 'menta theme' from here:

    dnf install mate-themes

    2. Define 'high contrast' on 'system preference'->'Appearance':

Then PVS browse files open fine...

I'm just a bit baffled why PVS will have issues with anything but the 'high contrast' font...

    Cheers,

    Matan

    Matan,

I suspect it was just some dependencies coming from the file browser widget used; in my case those files are loaded as part of the RPM I mentioned (I notice that in gnome-tweaks I have the Adwaita theme as a preference, which is shown as default in RHEL9). Anyway, I believe that PVS was updated to ensure that this dependency didn't become critical (I didn't follow the trail to find out exactly what was fixed).
