What is the purpose of extracting RC in ASIC design? Can we do simulation with the extracted RC values?Does the tool do any optimization based on RC extracted values?

Yes, timeDesign will perform extraction automatically when called.

If, by chance, you have a SPEF file from an external extraction engine that you'd like to use for timing analysis in SoC-Encounter, that SPEF file could be utilized as follows:

    spefIn design.spef
    timeDesign -reportOnly
