core utilization and standard cell utilization

what is the difference between core utilization and standard cell utilization.Some body please explain with some simple example.

  • You'd think this would be simple (we're frequently asked as we're doing designs "what's the density?") but density calculations can get quite complicated.

    I had a similar discussion with a customer a couple of weeks ago- I've attached a couple of slides (as a .pdf file) that I think will help explain the difference. I've never done attachments to a forum post so let me know if you have trouble downloading the attachment.

    I was able to download the pdf.From  the example in pdf , i got the idea that
    core utilization : we consider both the hard macros and  standard cells.
    cell utilization : we consider only the standard cells, the hard macros will be neglected.
     
    am i correct?
