RC doesn't use up all available memory and crashes

 Hi All,

I am trying to synthesis a larg design in a machine with 32GB of RAM. But RC  doesn't use the available memory and crashes after 4GB usage.

Following is the error messag:

No more memory.  Current memory consumption: 4162452K.Abnormal exit.
No more memory.  Current memory consumption: 4162460K.

Encounter_soc also reports such an error.

Is there any switch in RC to push this memory usage limit?

Thanks,

Ali

     Hi Nader,

did you invoke RC with the -64 switch ? If the system is 64-bit default behavior is not to invoke the 64-bit executable. This is so as not to penalize runtime / memory on designs that do not need to use the 64-bit capabilities. Look in the header at the beginning of your log and confirm whether you invoked the 64-bit or 32-bit executable

    good luck,

    gh-
