Force X in gate level simulation

How to initialize flops not having reset pin in gate level simulation?

I expected -ncinitialize to do. but it doesn't.

What is the best (simple) and general way for cadence simulator ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi. You'll need to give us some more detail. Did you pass -ncinitialize to the elaboration command or the simulation one? Did it report any errors, and if so, what errors?

Also your subject line conflicts with the content - are you trying to set flops to X (per the subject line) or initialise them to a 0/1 value?

Login to support.cadence.com and search on ncinitialize, and you'll find a wealth of documentation and app notes for this; did you try that?

    Hi,

I want to force X to 0 or 1. -ncinitialize works for reg in UDP also ? I used irun command to do elaboration and simulation all at once. There was not error and warning about it.

UDPs can be tricky as they can override the initial values. Take a look at this app note for some ways to deal with it: https://support.cadence.com/apex/ArticleAttachmentPortal?id=a1Od0000000nTEPEA2&pageName=ArticleContent, or this one: https://support.cadence.com/apex/ArticleAttachmentPortal?id=a1Od0000000tFllEAE&pageName=ArticleContent which explains how to find unreset flops and deal with them programatically.

You shouldn't need to explicitly initialise to X, that should generally be the default, right?
