what is the difference between the following 2 instance declarations: 1. x is instance 2. a : x is instance my common sense tells me it's something about the naming of the struct. in the first case the name is determined determined defaultly to be 'x', whereas in the second case it's 'a'. is it correct ? thanks,

I would recommend to avoid the short form and use different names for unit types and their instances. It just makes life easier :-)
