I tried the same OVM based testbench on IUS8.2-S012 and VCS0906 , and there is an amazing performance contrast !

VCS is 7X more faster than IUS !

    Hi duckfly,

I do not know why the difference in performance but difference of such magnitude tend to point to setup issues most likely.

If any tool was 7x faster than the other, the whole market would use such tool. Indeed not the case.

I suggest you post some additional detail on this issue to the functional verification forum where I am sure

someone will be able to better help. This forum is intended most for synthesis and formal verification users

Link to functional verification forum is

    hope this helps,

    gh-

As grasshopper pointed out, this could be explained by a small testcase that produces a large amount of I/O such as printing or file access. Without more clarification of what the actual testcase is doing, this is a warrantless claim.

If you would like help in determining the cause of the slowdown, please supply an example of what you are running or contact the Cadence helpdesk. If you are just trying to slam IUS, this is not the appropriate venue.

    Hi,Tim,

Oh, I'm a IUS/OVM fans .. and cadence's native support see this issue , but can't give me any suggestion . I doubt it's the random engine slow down the simulation .
The whole testbench is so big , and I can't give an example , if you consider this is important, I can do something to help your FAE find out the reason .

     Hi Yang YiFeng,

I think this is basically the same post as  http://www.cadence.com/Community/forums/p/13073/19661.aspx#19661.  As my colleague Tim Pylant pointed out, we would be glad to help and I think you indicated that you would like to work with us.  My recommendation is that we work with you directly as you suggested.

Please feel free to contact me offline at asherer@cadence.com and I'll make sure we have a technical team work with you to resolve the performance difference.
