Timing report for a hierarchical block

Ivan de Trble

Hi everyone!

Can anyone tell me how can I get a timing report for a net that goes through hierarchy?

In other words: the net starts at the current level then goes into a flip flop inside an instantiated custom block. I need to know the timing from the current level down to that flip flop.

 Thanks for your help.

    Hi Ivan,

    You can certainly apply

    set_attr break_timing_path true <hierarchical pin>

    external_delay -input <value> -clock <clock> <hierarchical pin>

    report timing -from <hierarchical pin>

More importantly I have to ask you why you would want to do this? Individual segments of nets in synthesis will not necessarily correlate to your actual placement, especially if you are not using RC-P or a physically aware synthesis solution.

    regards,

    gh-
