    Hi ssripada,

there is no bullet proof way for a tool to tell a RAM from other macro cells as far as I know. That being said, report gates will show a summary of area at the end where it splits things into sequential cells, combo cells, timing models and something or other. Timing models are usually the memories but can also include things like PLLs, and other cells without a function. It will also show cells of each library. One of the 2 ways you should be able to get what you need pretty easily. If this is not sufficient it should be easy to script something to add up there of specific macros.

    hope this helps,
    gh-

    Hi ssripada,

it is technically possible, but you should use TCL regular expressions. Redirect the report to a TCL variable and perform regular expressions:

    redirect -variable gate_wo_rams "report gates"

    then

    regsub {yourram\s+\S+\s+\S+} "" $gate_wo_rams gate_wo_rams

    or similar...
