THis function allows you to select several vias using multiple selections and group and then replace them with a different via.

    Hi Andy,

When I check the library box in the padstacks popup I'm getting the "check for fixed properties and retry" popup warning and would not replace any vias. I could not find any fixed vias. What do you think is causing the problem?

It does work when I include the padstack name of the new via I want to use in the Constraints Manager Physical via list table.

    thanks,
    Gino

This means that there is a fixed property on the via or that something else is wrong, where the function axlRpelacePadstack did succeed. Do a show element, set your filter to vias only and clikc on the via in question.

As you can see in the code below the program takes the list of vias and replaces them and stores the dbids of the replaced objects in "ldbids"
    ...
    (setq ldbid (axlReplacePadstack vias2replace padstk_name))
(if (length ldbid) != cnt then
(sprintf msg "WARNING: Replaced only %d out of %d vias.\n\nCheck for FIXED property and retry." (length ldbid) cnt)
    axlUIConfirm(msg)
    else
(sprintf msg "Info: Replaced %d out of %d vias." (length ldbid) cnt)
    axlUIConfirm(msg)
    );
    );if

    ...

In other words we know how many we have to replace and we know how many got replaced.

Let me know if this helps

    Hi Andy,

In my particular situation the only way I was able to get the replace
via skill program to work was to add the new via name I want
to replace the existing vias in the board in the Constraint Manager
via list. When I did that I did not get any more warnings about fixed
properties. It also did not matter if I had checked the library box in
the padstack pop-up or not. I checked the vias in my board and they do
not have any fixed properties attached to them.

Let me know if you can duplicate the error I'm getting if the the new
via you want to use is not in the board database and not in the
constarint manager via list but only in the library database and you
have to check the library box in the padstack popup.

    thanks,
    Gino
