How to Download the Discrete Cadence PSpice Model Library for Bipolar Transistors

Thomas Foxcroft

Hello:

I'm running PSpice for TI. I would like to get some common NPN transistor models for my designs. There are several libraries which have been automatically installed with this tool, including one from Texas Instruments. The one from TI  does not provide any transistors with their libraries, and the PSpice library offers three NPN transistors.

The PSpice.com website (https://www.pspice.com/discrete/bipolar-transistor) shows that many transistors are available from the Cadence PSpice library.

How can I download some of those transistor models?

I've haven't been able to download from the Cadence PSpice Model Library link. I believe it's just a list of all their models that come with their software. The past versions of PSpice Lite did provide part libraries but PSpice for TI is just that; you use it for designs using TI parts and it can be used with parts outside their library with restrictions on the number of displayed Probe traces. You might try that free trial of PSpice to have access to the parts you need or try a web search. For example, check out:

I've got a feeling that this forum is not going to be of any help. Also, there are programs built into it which create barriers for communication.

I've tried to reply to your question but I keep getting rejected.  They post a message that my reply is SPAM.

    Hello Retired EE:

    I received the same message!

The user interface for this site is a bit clumsy, and so is Cadence's PSpice tool.

    Good grief.

Well, I was able to find an answer on my own effort. The answer is: I cannot download the Cadence Library unless I purchase the tool from Cadence.

I don't think I want to pay money for this tool for theses reasons: 1) a perception of nonexistent support by Cadence in their own forum, 2) the help documentation is so poorly written that it is practically unusable, 3) the user interface for PSpice is a very clumsy design, 4) much of the nomenclature which is used for labeling the tool's controls, it's interface, and processes are poorly chosen. That's not what I would want to pay into. Very odd for such a large US company. However, it's not as bad as being a seller on Amazon's platform. My goodness, Amazon's back end is an outrageous and costly mess.
