Virtuoso Video Diary: Comparing Multiple Tests and Sharing Settings

21 May 2019 • 4 minute read

Today's blog highlights the features of the new Multi-Test Editor that is now available in ADE Assembler. With this blog, we have come to the end of the mini blog series that covered a lot of interesting, just-released features in Virtuoso®ADE Assembler, Virtuoso®ADE Explorer, Virtuoso®ADE Verifier, and Virtuoso® Visualization and Analysis. We hope you found these blogs useful. Click here to see what other topics we covered in this series.

Have you been in a situation where you wanted to change a particular simulation setting in multiple tests in Virtuoso® ADE Assembler? This can be a tedious process because you have to figure out which tests have that setting, and then make the changes in each test one by one.

In IC6.1.8 ISR3 and ICADVM18.1 ISR3, we have added a tool called Multi-Test Editor to do just that for you.

Using this tool, you can compare and selectively copy simulation settings across all or some specific tests. While doing this, you can also review the simulator defaults shown in the same interface. I bet you'll agree that this will be a great time saver and a good medium for sanity checks.

Comparing Multi-Test Settings

For an easy comparison of simulation settings and their values, you can do the following in Multi-Test Editor:
  • Choose a reference test with which you want to compare the other tests.
  • Use column filters to focus only on specific simulation settings or values.
  • View the simulator defaults for each setting.
  • Identify the deviations in the compared values from the colored visual cues.
  • Opt to view only those values that are different.
  • Select the type of settings to be compared. For example, you can select only environment options and analyses settings.

Sharing Test Settings

Another key feature of Multi-Test Editor is the ease of copying and sharing settings. While the comparison is in progress, you can choose to copy values for a particular setting or a complete category of settings (node) from the reference test to all or specific other tests. You do not need to open the test setup individually to make any changes. Just make the changes and click Save. The active setup in ADE Assembler reflects all the changes.

Similarly, if you have modified the active setup while Multi-Test Editor is open, you can refresh the editor to synchronize the values.
