ADE XL doesn't run

navi2582

Hi,

I have looked at some previous posts and wanted to do the same, but

when I tried to execute,

$ldd Cadence/IC615/tools/dfII/bin/Xndx

I get a message,

ldd: Cadence/IC615/tools/dfII/bin/Xndx: No such file or directory

Is there any chance that this might be the reason for ADE XL to not run?

Or could anyone please point to reasons why it is not running?

Thanks,

Navi

Which version are you using (type "virtuoso -W" at the UNIX prompt)? If you run "virtuoso -nograph" does that work? (Type exit at the prompt if it does in order to exit the non-graphical invocation).

    Thanks Andrew.

    it is,

    sub-version IC6.1.5-64b.500.9

I also tried virtuoso -32, but it didn't work. I will try your suggestion early tomorrow and will get back to you.

     Andrew,

when I do the "virtuoso -nograph", it does not even launch the virtuoso window. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Navi

     ohh wait..I see something.

*WARNING* Unable to open -nograph X Window Display "<hostname>:80"
    *WARNING* (using "exec /CADENCE/IC.6.15.509/tools.lnx86/dfII/../bin/cdsVncserver :80&").
*WARNING* cdsXvnc output may be found in file $HOME/.vnc-cds/<hostname>:80.log
    *WARNING* Trying another display.

what can we infer from this?

     Thanks,

    Navi

    Navi,

It's not supposed to launch the Virtuoso window. That's the point... it's a "non-graphical" mode for Virtuoso, and this is what is being used for the background process. If you type "virtuoso -nograph" in a UNIX terminal, you should see:

And the last line is a prompt, at which you can type SKILL command (e.g. exit() to exit the virtuoso nograph session).

    Did it do that?

Probably your best bet is to go to customer support as otherwise debugging via the forum could be tricky!

    Andrew.

Did you look at the cdsXvnc output log to see if that said anything?

You might want to try experimenting with the environment variables CDS_XVNC_TENBASE and CDS_XVNC_OFFSET (search in cdnshelp for details on these). These allow alteration of the display range used.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

I already opened a Service Request (#42922780) for this issue. I just wanted to take others opinion too so that it will faster to debug the problem. Initially I thought there was a problem with Monte Carlo simulation but later realised that I could not even run a simple simulation in ADE XL, which ADE L was able to run.

     two questions,

    1) where can I find the cdsXvnc ouput log?

    2) when executed "echo $CDS_XVNC_TENBASE" and  "echo $CDS_XVNC_OFFSET", both resulted in Undefined variable. Are those already set or do I need to set?

     Please let me know.

    Thanks.

It told you in the message you posted where to find them...

And those vars would not be set by default. Setting them overrides the defaults (see the manual for more details).

    Hi Navi,

Please be mindful and do not open Service Requests (SRs) with Customer Support  _and_ report the same issue on the forums.  A  majority of posts are answered by AEs  (often on our own time) and it tends to stretch our extremely limited bandwidth...   Plus, when AEs see people “double dipping” (asking the same question across multiple forums), they are less likely to answer their question.

In summary…post questions on the forums….or file a Service Request….but not on both.   Thanks for your consideration!  J

    Best regards,

    Tawna
