Run ADE XL without netlisting each time

Hello,

I am using a process file in witch are defined models for typical and mismatch with different names, for example nch and nch_mat. The problem is than when I'm trying to do a Monte Carlo simulation, i need to modify manually the netlist and replace nch with nch_mat, in our example, and when I press run in ADE XL it generates a new netlist and it doesn't take into account that I modified the model names. Is there a way in I can run ADE XL without netlisting each time and use the modified netlist? Thank you for your help.

 Regards,

Nicusor

    Nicusor,

Most design kits that I've seen that implement it this way have a different set of components (rather confusingly) for mismatch versus normal simulation, but you could also use the mismatch models for non-monte carlo simulation. You should check with the foundry.

If you really have to edit the netlist, this can be done as described in this thread.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thank you for your quick response. It works like a charm.

What you said is correct, but I don't have different devices for nominal and mismatch, and  even with the mismatch library loaded the netlist is the same. You saved me from a lot of pain.

    Thanks again,

    Nicusor

    Hi,

I want to manually edit the netlist. I did the steps mentioned above regarding the reference netlisting. But I don't know which netlist should I modify so that netlist change affects all corner simulation.

Each corner has got its own netlist. Do I need to go and modify each one of them?

    Hi Rishi,

Why do you want to edit the netlist? It's almost certainly the wrong way to solve a problem and it almost certainly would be rather difficult to make it work reliably. There's no single file you'd have to netlist across all corners, in most situations. You'd have to netlist it in each and every corner using the method I linked to earlier in this thread. I'd however like to understand what you're trying to achieve to see if there's a better fix.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for your response. Actually Assura was extracting some devices which are not supposed to be there in the final netlist. I had to quickly check if the problem came from these additional devices. Obviously I wouldn't edit the netlist manually for the final signoff. As you know the CAD flows usually take longer times to fix and I am just trying to look ahead.

The flow to edit the netlist worked. Earlier I was making the mistake by editing the input.scs file. I was told by my CAD team to modify the netlist file and that fixed the problem.
