Latest MMSIM Version for IC5141

Hi,

What is the latest MMSIM version compatible with IC5141?

We have MMSIM313 installed.

The path for MMSIM is in front of the IC, but the spectre is still checked out of the IC path.

It does not recognize a lot of parameters and functions in the PDK models. Even the vbit source from the analogLib is not recognized.

Thank You,

Yaser

I'm not sure what MMSIM313 is, but I'm able to run the very latest version of MMSIM (MMSIM141) with IC5141 with no problem.

I can see that you might have an issue being able to run spectre from a new version of MMSIM if your operating system is too old - but I wouldn't expect it to skip over an entry in your path and pick the next if spectre from MMSIM is first.

Can you type this in the CIW:

    parseString(getShellEnvVar("PATH") ":")

and report what it says. And then in a terminal window type:

    which spectre

    and

    spectre -W

    Also:

    cat /etc/redhat-release

    uname -a

    Thanks.

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

    MMSIM131.

I just found the MMSIMHOME variable was set to the wrong path!

But I still had problem with the spectre:

    ./runSimulation:
/opt/cadence/installs/MMSIM131/tools.lnx86/spectre/bin/64bit/spectre: error while loading shared libraries: libreadline.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

And it just turned out to be a missing package in RHEL6.5.

    which spectre:
    /opt/cadence/installs/MMSIM131/tools.lnx86/bin/spectre

    spectre -W:
    sub-version  13.1.0.130.isr4

    cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.5 (Santiago)

    uname -a
    Linux cadence02.ignis.ca 2.6.32-431.5.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Jan 10 14:46:43 EST 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

    CIW PATH:
    ("/opt/cadence/installs/MMSIM131/tools.lnx86/bin" "/opt/cadence/installs/MMSIM131/tools.lnx86/dfII/bin"
     "/opt/cadence/installs/IC5141/tools.lnx86/bin" "/opt/cadence/installs/IC5141/tools.lnx86/dfII/bin" "/opt/cadence/installs/IC5141/tools.lnx86/plot/bin" "/opt/cadence/installs/EXT132/bin" "/opt/cadence/installs/ASSURA415141/tools.lnx86/assura/bin"
    "/bin" "/usr/lib64/qt-3.3/bin" "/usr/local/sbin" "/usr/local/bin" "/sbin" "/usr/sbin" "/usr/bin"
    )

    It's all working fine now!

Thanks for pointing us to the right direction.

    Best Regards,

    Yaser

On my RHEL6.5 machine, the 32 bit and 64 bit versions came from these RPMs:

    UNIX> rpm -q -f /lib/libreadline.so.5
    compat-readline5-5.2-17.1.el6.i686
    UNIX> rpm -q -f /lib64/libreadline.so.5
    compat-readline5-5.2-17.1.el6.x86_64

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

I do have the same problem when I am using the veriloga model in my design and the cadence gives me the following error:

"ERROR (VACOMP-1008): Cannot compile ahdlcmi module library. Check the log file input.ahdlSimDB/6280_artist_ahdlLib_decimator_veriloga_veriloga.va.decimator.ahdlcmi/Linux3.10.0-862.11.6.el7.x86_64+gcc/../ahdlcmi.out for details. If the compiler ran out of memory, use 'setenv CDS_CMI_COMPLEVEL 0', and try again. If the reason for the failure was a syntax error, contact your Cadence Customer Support representative with the netlist, log files, behavioral model files, and any other information that can help identify the problem.
ERROR (SFE-91): Error when elaborating the instance decimator. Simulation should be terminated."

Please read Guidelines for the Custom IC Design Forum as you've posted on the end of a 4-year old thread, with no information about the version of Spectre that you're using. Did you look at the file ahdlcmi.out which gave more information on the problem (it suggests you check out the log file in the message). Is the model from a Cadence library (it suggests so from the name above, but if so, which model precisely were you using?). I suggest you start a new thread with this additional information.

    Andrew
